The Daily Knicker x Jesse O’Brien
I’m going through a bit of a phase right now of blurring the lines between lingerie and fashion. The concept of ‘Lingerie dressing’ has been around for a long time (slips as dresses, lingerie details such as ribbons and bows on outerwear, corsets as tops) but what about fashion as lingerie? Or loungewear? Incorporating traditionally ‘formal’ garments into our underwear drawer by paring them back or even just wearing something OTT with a relaxed attitude, in an everyday environment?
Sometimes I like to wear my most flowing dresses around the house like an old movie star would her boudoir robe, or borrow a tailored men’s shirt to wear to bed. It might be ‘fashion’ but sometimes, treating your favourite luxury pieces with an air of nonchalance can feel surprisingly indulgent.
My friend Jesse drove from LA to visit me in San Francisco and shoot some of my favourite ‘around-the-house’ ensembles. Inspired by Helmut Newton’s polaroids and a blend of masculine and feminine pieces, we shot this simple story on instant film, over bellinis on a Tuesday afternoon. As you do. And some how, such a casual at-home hangout felt so much more glamorous when doing it in bed wearing Gucci…
Hope you enjoy and get inspired to wear your bra to check the mail or that gown to just casually watch Netflix!

To the anon who asked me who my Tumblr crush and hates were, well, this is my number one Tumblr crush at the moment.
She’s a babe and she know her shit when it comes to lingerie!
